My husband and I went in July, which is considered the "off season" so we were a little unsure what to expect. Our trip was beyond amazing! The house is beautiful and we especially loved the second story deck where we watched the monkeys play each morning!
The beach is very private, and we loved sunning, and my husband fished each day when the tides were lower. The weather was perfect most days-sunny and 85 degrees, and rained in the evenings, which cooled things down when we ventured out to dinner. Some of the restaurants were closed due to the season, but we loved Coloso del Mar, Sol Y Mar, and "Taco Tuesday" at El Coquito!
Overall, it was a very relaxing vacation and we will return to Casa Rosa and Playa Zancudo as soon as we can!

Wow! What can I say. This is the most authentic, beautiful "beach" house I've ever had the pleasure of staying at during a vacation. Casa Rosa is the perfect place to get away from it all. The beach is gorgeous - very private. The sunsets are stunning, and the home opens to the ocean so you can enjoy the sound and the ocean breeze throughout the day and night.
Restaurants are nearby. The locals are very welcoming, and were even willing to cook the fish we caught on our two fishing excursions. The fishing was spectacular - tuna, snapper, grouper, mackerel, and many others we caught and released. The extra bonus was the whale watching. Whales and dolphins populated the Pacific while we were there, which made our fishing trips very exciting and eventful.
Would I return to Casa Rosa? Yes! The home was beautiful, the location was spectacular, and the privacy of the beach was amazing. We had a GREAT time!!!

We went down to Casa Rosa at the end of August not knowing what to expect. Green season ( aka rain ) at a place that receives over 200 inches of rain per year can sound frightening but we found the weather to be nearly perfect. Sunny and warm most days with afternoon and evening showers. Not nearly as muggy as during high season with a cooling rain at the end of a full day of outdoors activities.
We heard that there were 10 pair of humpback whales "wintering" in Golfo Dulce after migrating from Alaska. We also heard that offshore fishing was good year-round. So, we headed down to Playa Zancudo.
We could not have been more pleased with the stay. The fishing was spectacular with our team from Zancudo lodge with Capitan Ebilio at the helm. The first day we caught 45-50 pound yellow fin tuna and, after sharing with the boat crew, still had weeks worth of sashimi, and tuna steaks expertly prepared by Edwin, the chef at Coloso del Mar. On our way back in we tracked several pair of humpbacks spouting and breaching powerfully but causally inside the confines of Golfo Dulce.
The next time out we fished in closer to shore and caught 15-18 lb. red snapper and grouper. Again, these provided more than enough meals for us and the crew. This time we were able to follow a pair of humpbacks for over 30 minutes with their playful breaching and spouting.
Overall, we all concluded that this was a great time of year to visit. We had the beach to ourselves for miles in either direction.( Even in high season the beach seldom has more than a handful of people in sight). The house was very comfortable and clean. The weather was pleasant and perfect for outside activities.
We will return often

We went down with my 91 y/o mother, a brother and two sisters. The house was perfect for our group. There was plenty of room for games and card playing yet space for solitude and quiet wave watching.
We had perfect weather: clear and sunny most days, rain in late afternoon and evening. It was even cool enough at night to require covering up in bed.
The surf was perfect at low tide for hours of endless boogie boarding.
A perfect vacation spot.

This truly was a fabulous experience. We spent hours on the private beach relaxing in hammocks enjoying the sounds of the waves. The surf was perfect for boogie boarding. We thoroughly enjoyed experiencing nature at Casa Rosa. Toucans, macaws and other bird species flying overhead. The thrill of seeing capuchin monkeys in the trees on the Casa Rosa property cannot matched.
This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home is spacious and comfortable. We chose to walk a a short distance to a quaint restaurant for dinner each night, but used the full kitchen for other meals. The covered porches allowed us to enjoy the outdoors even during the brief rains during our visit. Free wifi so we could stay connected with family at home. We hope to return to Casa Rosa soon!
