Offshore Blue waters (a mere 14 miles from Playa Zancudo) offer world class fishing with Sailfish and Marlin caught and released in record numbers. Tuna, Dorado and many other offshore species are abundant in our waters. Year-round Inshore Gulfo Dulce fishing featuring Roosterfish, 17 species of Snapper and a host of others. Charters are available to Casa Rosa guests ranging from panga style to the fleet of sport fishers in our area

The Zancudo and Pavones beaches are the mecca of surfing in the southern zone of Costa Rica. The Arena Alta beach break is just a few meters to the south of Casa Rosa. Pavones, home of the one of the world’s longest left break is just a few minutes away.

Tropical Wildlife and fauna abound in Playa Zancudo and surrounding areas. Casa Rosa guests can experience the natural beauty by kayak, boat tour, zip line, horseback or a morning walk. A short boat ride away is the animal rescue Osa Wildlife Sanctuary and the stunning botanical gardens at Casa Orquideas.

Even though December through May is high season and considered by some to be the best time to visit Costa Rica, many adventures occur only during the green season from August through November. This is when the Humpback whales visit the Gulfo Dulce to mate. The Ridley turtles are on the beach nesting and hatching. This is also the time of year is when the surf is up with head high or better waves that are more common than not.
